Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

Music of the 70s is a free, static website. We've designed it to be as privacy-respecting as possible. This page explains, in plain English, what happens to your information when you visit.

Personal information we collect

None. We do not ask you to sign up, log in, or provide any personal details. We do not run contact forms that store data, and we do not build profiles of our visitors.

Cookies and similar technology

This site does not set cookies of its own for logins or profiles. It does use technology from Google, YouTube and Cloudflare that stores or reads information on your device, as described in the sections below. Some tools also use your browser's localStorage to remember small, non-personal details, such as how many songs you've discovered this session, your best trivia score or your Listen Now volume setting. That information stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can clear it any time through your browser settings.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages and tools are used. Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ZY77Y8DHV1 on your device to tell visits and visitors apart, and it collects information such as your approximate location, your device and browser type, and the pages you view. The site is also hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which provides aggregate traffic and performance measurement (Cloudflare Web Analytics). You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

YouTube API Services

This site uses YouTube API Services to play videos, in the Listen Now radio and jukebox and in embedded players in blog posts. By using those features you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and your use is also subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

When a YouTube player loads or plays, YouTube and Google may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser details and viewing activity, and may store or read cookies or similar technology on your device. Players in blog posts load as you scroll toward them. On Listen Now, YouTube's player script loads with the page, but no video player is created and nothing plays until you press Play or choose a song.

This site does not download, copy or store any YouTube video or audio. We keep only video IDs and their status (whether a video can be embedded and whether YouTube marks it as made for kids), which we re-check at least every 30 days.

Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense to display advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's advertising cookies enable it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before any personalised ads are served.

Third-party links

Our tools link out to external sites such as YouTube (for song searches) and Wikipedia (for artist information). Album cover images on the Random Artist Picker are retrieved from the MusicBrainz Cover Art Archive. These external services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party websites.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect any information from children. Videos that YouTube marks as made for kids are not shown on Listen Now.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected here with a revised "last updated" date.
